Get out this winter, and let the Uptown art scene invigorate you! New Year, New Digs: Recommendations and Tips | Bohemia Realty Group Are you bringing in the New Year with new digs? Whether you just bought your dream home or are renting a great new apartment, you may need some recommendations for all the jobs on your moving checklist. The following is a list of people and services that I highly advise checking out. I have used them, referred them again and again, and they never disappoint. Movers UGGGG. Nobody seems to like this part of the process, but chances are you have to get your stuff from your old place to your new place so you may be looking into hiring a moving company. If doing it yourself isn’t for you then you need professionals who will get it done for a fair price, treat your possessions with respect and care, and smile while doing it. I have three moving companies that I send my clients to regularly and I have never received anything but positive feedback. They also offer packing services if you just need some help getting it all done. Whether it’s homeowner’s insurance or renter’s insurance. My guy Joe will have you covered. I mean, come on, you can have renter’s insurance for as little as $15.00 a month. Consider the cost if you had to replace all of your belongings? It’s a no-brainer. Be a smart renter, get it. Got a car? He can get you a package deal including auto insurance. State Farm Joe Benincasa joe@joebensthere.com (631) 465-9070 Locksmith Maybe you have the keys to your new pad but you need a top lock or a replacement lock? Try your super first to see if he has an extra set, but if not, you need Popeye’s number. Popeye’s offers 24 -hour service, the best in Upper Manhattan. He also makes custom window gates. You’re in your new place, unpacking and settling in, and you need wine to go with your take out. These guys are amazing and they deliver! They have a fantastic wine selection and they know their stuff. They also have weekly wine tastings so be sure to get on their email list. If you don’t know much about wine, they’ll make excellent recommendations. The Winery 257 West 116th (just off Frederick Douglass Boulevard) 212-222-4866 Shop online: thewineryonline.com Massage Sore muscles from all that bending and lifting? Want to alleviate all the stress build-up from your move? Wouldn’t it be great to have a massage that came to you? Selah Body Works does just that. They have massage therapists that offer all kinds of massages, from Deep Tissue to Swedish. Pick your poison. Go ahead, you deserve it. Congratulations you survived your move! Jose Rosario Selah Bodyworks: selahbodyworks@gmail.com And just a little extra advice… Do you have pets? Remember that moving can be stressful on them as well. Especially for cats. AND moving is one of the common scenarios where pets get lost. They can squeeze past the movers when your attention is elsewhere. If you have an animal, chances are you have a vet. Most vets are very accommodating and will day board your furry friend for a small fee while you make your move. Drop them off in the morning and once the move is complete, pick them up and take them to their new home. They will appreciate not being part of the upheaval, and you will have peace of mind knowing they’re safe.
