I have to admit, when it's time to enjoy a cocktail with friends, I'm a bourbon fan. While I know it isn't on everyone's list, I think many would be surprised by the superbly delicious cocktail I recently enjoyed at Vinateria, at the corner of 119th street and Frederick Douglass Blvd.
On order: the Basilisk. Strong, punchy flavor that one would expect of bourbon, this mixture with lime and a wonderful accent of basil has more of a light, refreshing feel to it.
Ingredients:
At Vinateria, a basil leaf if encased within the large ice cube that floats within your drink. While the interior of the restaurant/bar is beautiful with a modern feel, low lighting, and smokey gray walls, you can also enjoy your wonderful drink on the sidewalk while the last of the warm weather ensues.
Or, invite your friends to your wonderful Upper Manhattan home and treat them to a pitcher of this fantastic concoction. Cheers!
